Coworking in Shenzhen

China's hardware capital, a young subtropical tech city pressed up against Hong Kong and easy to pair with a HK hop. Shekou is the laid-back expat and marina hub; Nanshan holds the tech HQs and Shenzhen Bay high-rises. It is fast, modern and English-friendlier than most of the mainland. Domestic connectivity is excellent, but plan for a VPN or an offshore-routing eSIM for anything behind the Great Firewall. Summers are hot, humid and typhoon-prone, so aim for the cooler, drier months.

Visa

Shenzhen (Guangdong) is a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit port for eligible travelers heading onward to a third country or region, and Hong Kong next door makes that onward hop easy. Many nationalities now also get 30-day unilateral visa-free entry, though the list changes and some passports (US included) are not on it. Neither permits local employment; confirm the current rules for your nationality and route.
