Tax set-aside: how much to park

A slider that tells you how much of your income to hold back for tax before you spend it.

Freelancers get burned by spending money that was really the taxman's. The tax set-aside tool helps you hold the right amount back.

How to use it

Open Reports and find the tax set-aside card. Set your personal rate with the slider (0 to 50 percent). Nomad Bro shows the amount you should set aside from income so far based on that rate. Move the money into a separate account and forget about it until you file.

Picking a rate

A common starting heuristic is 25 to 35 percent, but your real rate depends on your country, your income level, and whether you owe self-employment or social charges. Treat the number here as general information, not tax advice, and confirm your actual rate with a professional for your situation. After your first filing you will know your real rate and can set the slider accordingly.
